Delta Female Ice Hockey Association (DFIHA), Delta's first all-female minor hockey association, was incorporated in 2025 to grow opportunities for girls in the game. DFIHA is proud to sustain and develop the Delta Stars team initiated by South Delta Minor Hockey Association and to continue supporting girls to develop hockey, team, leadership and life skills on ice.

Girls' hockey in Canada is having a historic moment. Hockey Canada reports that over 115,000 girls registered to play hockey across Canada for the 2024/2025 season, and since 2022 women's and girls' hockey has grown by 30% - nearly 3x the growth rate of the men's game. Females represent around 19% of amateur hockey players in Canada and the Vancouver Goldeneyes played their first season with the Professional Women's Hockey League in 2025/2026.
Delta is one of the only remaining communities in the Lower Mainland without an independent female ice hockey association. We are changing that.

Every girl deserves to play - we are proud to create a space where girls aren't an afterthought - they're the whole point.
Development over outcome - we measure success in confidence earned, friendships built, and skills developed - both on and off the ice.
Community over competition - the families, coaches, and volunteers who make up DFIHA are as important as the players. We are building this together.
Delta Female Ice Hockey Association (DFIHA), incorporated in 2025, is Delta's first hockey association dedicated to girls in the game. We are proud to offer a safe and welcoming space where Delta girls learn, play and love the game of hockey, regardless of skill level.
